How To Choose The Best University In Dubai:
Choosing the best University in Dubai isn’t just a matter of picking the top university. The choice of university will be dependent on the subject of study, your career prospects, budget, learning style and future objectives.
A student interested in architecture might want to attend a university with excellent design facilities, for instance, while another student might be interested in specialised technology programs if they are interested in cyber security.
We’ve included a few things to keep in mind when you’re making your decision.
1. Verify The Degree Programme
Instead of the university name, take a close look at the actual course.
Business degrees can be somewhat different at two institutions even if they are both offering the degree. Some attention could be paid to finance, others to entrepreneurship, marketing or international business.
Read through the curriculum and verify:
- Core modules
- Elective subjects
- Programme duration
- Assessment methods
- Internship opportunities
- Practical projects
- Dissertation/research needs
- Professional accreditation
This will aid you in selecting the university in Dubai for international students or local students for their academic goals.
2. Consider Accreditation
Among all the factors to consider before registering, one of the most significant is accreditation.
While a university’s reputation is helpful, it’s also important for students to check if the degree granted is recognised and, if applicable, if it is professionally or internationally accredited.
This is especially significant if you intend to seek employment outside of the UAE upon completion of your studies.
3. Look Beyond The University Ranking In Dubai
The first thing students do when they begin to make a shortlist for the university is to look for the university ranking in Dubai. While Rankings are definitely useful, they are not the sole measure of quality.
Each organisation has a different method for ranking universities. Some place more importance on research, others on academic reputation, citations, internationalisation, employment outcomes or other factors.
4. Compare Tuition Fees
The prices of universities in Dubai can differ widely.
Don’t just consider tuition cost when making your application, but the full cost of study.
Be sure to factor in the following costs:
- Tuition fees
- Application fees
- Accommodation
- Transport
- Learning resources including books.
- Health insurance
- Food
- Student visa-related expenses
- Personal expenses
Please also see the official University website for the latest information regarding scholarships or financial assistance that may be available at some Universities. Budget is a common study problem for many students.
5. Consider Career Possibilities
Dubai is an international business centre, so career opportunities are an important consideration when choosing between international universities in Dubai.
Be sure to search out institutions that offer:
- Internships
- Career counselling
- Employer events
- Industry projects
- Alumni networks
- Placement support
- Networking opportunities
6. Take Campus Location Into Account
Dubai is a big city, and commuting can impact the student experience.
Make sure to find out the location of the campus before you accept an offer, and the convenience of getting to the campus from your accommodation.
The university may appear great on paper but is far from convenient if you are commuting several hours a day.
